Accident Attorney : Car Accident Lawyer Reports Teen Suspected Drunk Driver Arrested After Three Killed

COLFAX, Calif. – A suspected teenage drunk driver was arrested Thursday night on felony manslaughter and driving under the influence charges after losing control of his vehicle, hitting a tree and killing three male passengers.
The driver, a 17-year-old Meadow Vista resident, was allegedly speeding in his Subaru Outback when he came to a curve in the road, lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree on Applegate Road, police said. The single-vehicle accident claimed the lives of three passengers and injured another passenger at about 7:30 p.m.

There were three male passengers killed including two ages 21 and 31 who died at the scene and the second 21-year-old was taken by helicopter to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, police said. The man later died at the hospital.
Police booked the teen driver into Placer County Juvenile Detention Center, the 17 year-old female injured passenger from Eugene, Oregon were taken to Roseville Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
“This is a very tragic situation for all of those involved in this car accident,” said Emery Ledger a car accident lawyer at Ledger & Associates. “Anytime alcohol is involved the consequences are often severe as was the case here.”
According to the latest statistics compiled by the Department of Motor Vehicles in 2009, fatal traffic accidents involving alcohol have been on the decline for three years now. In the most recent year, the number of traffic collisions involving fatalities was down 7.5% and the number of people killed in those accidents was down nearly 7% in 2009. This is good news, car accident lawyers say.
Headquartered in Newport Beach, Calif., Ledger & Associates has handled numerous cases involving victims of drunk drivers who have been injured in traffic collisions. Drivers who engage in this type of behavior are liable to the victims they injure in a car accident. Sadly, every year roughly one third of those killed in crashes were involved in alcohol-related accidents, car accident lawyers say
Families of those killed in a traffic accident may also have grounds for a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver of the vehicle who caused the accident.
